Update from our Dean - Rome

A + World Academy is sailing with the fully-rigged tall ship Sørlandet for the fifth school year. We will cross the Atlantic and the Equator several times before returning to Kristiansand - her home port - in May 2020. Below you can read an update from the Dean.
Dear A+ Families and Friends,
Yesterday, we learned about some of the ancient sites of Rome, and how it is like a lasagna, layers upon layers of history. We climbed to one of the famous hills overlooking the Roman Forum and then climbed down below the city to explore some of the famous catacombs. Today, we are off to the soup kitchen to volunteer and enjoy some shore leave in the Eternal City. We are all enjoying this port immensely and are looking forward to our upcoming adventures.
Our upcoming Moroccan adventure has had a recent change with us now sailing to Tangier, Morocco instead of Safi. After much research on the two ports, receiving feedback concerning field experiences, and considering the short nature of the port, it was decided that Tangier is the better option. This means that the dates of the port have also changed and are now, 26-29 November. Students will have a one-day cultural experience on the 27th that will involve camel rides, exploration of key landmarks, and Moroccan food. And then on the 28th, there will be a full day of shore leave for all students. I will be emailing out the port plan for Tangier during this next sail.
